Elevate Your Holiday Dining with Black Flatware

Most interior designers will tell you that if you want to add contrast and depth to a room, add something black. It’s a versatile, classic color that pairs well with most hues and tends to highlight surrounding colors.

Black gives the eye a focal point to rest on. Walk into an entryway and you’ll instantly notice the pair of black wall sconces flanking a mirror. In the living room, the black ceramic vase on the wood cabinet instantly captures your attention. What’s more, black has a way of elevating any space, even your holiday table.

For those searching for the best flatware set for your holiday table, we curated a visual selection of our handcrafted black flatware.

The Brier collection showcases matte black handles that widen slightly towards the base. With slightly rounded handles and a smooth flat back, each piece fits comfortably in the hand and sits elegantly on the table. From soup to salad, this 5-piece black flatware set brings a classic aesthetic to your holiday place settings.

Tip: If you’re decorating your holiday table in black and metallic like silver and gold, consider using other black elements like black iron candle holders or metallic candlesticks with black candles.

Celia silverware is a creative design that has become a customer favorite. Faceted round handles widen into hammered-down ends, giving this silverware an artful look that is both contemporary and rustic. Celia is the best flatware set for anyone who appreciates the originality and charm of hand-forged cutlery and the visual reminder that each piece is authentically one-of-a-kind.

Tip: Rich burgundy, cherry red or dark green creates a stunning contrast to black flatware. For a rustic farmhouse holiday table setting, consider deep forest green napkins with a fringed trim.

Ridge rustic silverware has a distinctive handle that sets it apart. It features a round, faceted silhouette that broadens into a center crest or “ridge” with a gently curved base. A straight flat back adds more texture to the handles and ensures the handles rest securely on the table. Along with its tactical design, many customers comment on the heft and heirloom quality of this black flatware. As with all of our stainless steel silverware, Ridge utensils are hand-polished to a mirror finish.

Tip: Metallics are always welcome at the table during this time of year as they represent light to the darker days of winter. Gold is always a lovely choice for holiday table settings, but mixing metallics like silver, brass, bronze, and gold has become very popular in home decorating. The best way to mix metallics is to choose one primary metal while using other metallic pieces as accents. For example, if you want gold to be the dominant metal, pairing it with stainless steel silverware with black handles will look stunning.

Tedpole artisanal flatware is a fanciful design that will always command attention at your table. Whether you would describe these handles as squiggly or wavy, one thing is for sure - if you want to add a playful, modern vibe to your holiday table this is the best flatware set for you! The round handles are easy to grasp and balance nicely in the hand while the contrasting polished ends give this stylish black flatware a look that is always fresh.

Tip: For a less traditional holiday table, try mixing and matching dinnerware sets to create a playful aesthetic. Add some colorful drinkware and luxurious, textured napkins. Your guests will appreciate the effort you put into creating such a special experience for them!

The Jason flatware collection has a universal appeal that lends itself to a wide range of décor inclinations. From midcentury modern to rustic industrial, this solid stainless steel flatware is the perfect finish to your table settings. The square handles are textured but smooth and very comfortable to hold.

Tip: The highly polished stainless steel implements of the black flatware are an effective contrasting element for a black and white table. For this classic look, the key is to stick to a minimalist approach, without adding too many elements. A festive floral centerpiece with rich reds and greenery will be magical with this arrangement.

The Twig collection showcases whimsical handles that resemble twigs. Inspired by nature, the flatware mimics freshly cut branches with distinctive diagonal ends. The handles are round and designed with an artistic flair while remaining comfortable to hold while dining. The knife has a simple, curved handle for ease of use.

Tip: We believe Twig is the best flatware set for creating a simple, natural holiday table. You can let the beauty of nature shine through by creating a simple centerpiece with evergreen branches, filling bowls with pine cones, and using wood slice charger plates. The charm of this themed holiday table setting is that you can create something beautiful and inviting with minimal effort.

We hope you’ve enjoyed this overview of our handcrafted black flatware collection.

At INOX Artisans, we believe that our handmade silverware is the perfect way to add personality, quality, and authenticity to your holiday table.

FAQs

What is a place setting?

A place setting consists of 5 pieces: one dinner fork, one salad fork, one table knife, one soup spoon, and one teaspoon.

Our flatware sets are sold as a 5-piece set (serves 1) or as a 20-piece set (serves 4).

Should you place your black flatware in the dishwasher?

Yes, our silverware is dishwasher safe but we recommend avoiding citric-acid or chlorine-based detergents which can damage the surface over time and cause corrosive reactions. Of course, hand-washing with a soft sponge or cloth will keep your silverware looking its best.

The black flatware handles are finished using an electroplating process. This popular metal finishing technique is a kind of chemical reaction. It uses electrolysis and the process is comparable to what they use in jewelry making.

How many flatware sets should you have?

It depends on your dining needs! Having said that, a good place to start is to match up your flatware settings with your dinnerware. If you have dinnerware enough for 12 place settings, then you’ll want to look into flatware sets for 12. If you love to have parties, always get a few extra sets in case your guests drop a piece or an unexpected extra guest drops by.

The best flatware set will be durable enough for everyday use as well as special occasions. Our handcrafted collection includes serving pieces that complement many of our artisan flatware patterns. These serving sets include hostess and salad sets, cake and pie servers, pastry forks, butter spreaders, and more.

A note about stainless steel: While it is mostly stainless, stainless steel isn’t immune to rust. It is less prone to erosion when compared to conventional steel, but extended exposure to substances like salt, vinegar, egg, tomato sauce, acidic fruits, harsh detergents, and some tap water mineral salts, can cause erosion and staining. If you aren’t going to run the dishwasher right away, you should rinse your flatware thoroughly. We understand that buying silverware online is an investment. That is why we suggest handwashing and drying to keep your stainless steel flatware looking pristine for years to come.
