The Eclipse: Through the Seasons

The Eclipse: Through the Seasons

Apr 15, 2025Anita MacKenzie

This year, the eclipse season came on March 17 and will come again on September 10. An eclipse season happens about every 173 days when the lunar nodes are in exact alignment with the Earth and Sun.

But this blog post isn’t about the celestial cycles or the eclipse season. Instead, we thought it would be fun to glance at our Eclipse marble board. We’ve used it a lot over the years, from spring to winter, for an assortment of recipes.

The Eclipse Round Marble Cheese Board resembles a partial lunar eclipse. Handcrafted, the design showcases a larger white marble portion with a smaller portion in a beautiful verdant marble. The board has a 12-inch diameter, making it ideal for creating charcuterie boards or cheese trays for about 3-4 people. This board can easily hold about 2-3 kinds of cheese, one cured meat, and three accompaniments.

Round cheese boards are a popular choice for those who love to entertain from home. For one, they are visually appealing when presented with a variety of food items. A round board is versatile, and once you space out your cheese equally on your board, you can follow with the meat. Turning your board, start filling in the remaining empty spaces with fruit, nuts, and crackers.

Spring

Crudité boards are a fun, fresh fare for spring gatherings. You can never go wrong with adding cheese to a crudité board for something salty. And don’t forget some marinated olives for briny flavor and savory roasted nuts for crunch. Once all our veggies were prepared, we added a creamy white bean dip with herbs and lemon.

We enjoyed creating these cucumber “flowers” to celebrate spring. This arrangement is a nod to a trendy style of charcuterie boards. Charcuterie skewers are easy to customize with veggies, fruit, cheese, and cured meats.

One of the first flowers to bloom after winter, tulips are a sure sign that spring has arrived. These rich red grape tomatoes have mozzarella centers and green onion stems. Delicious with a fresh basil dip!

What could be more fun than decorating your spring-themed charcuterie boards with these mini pepper carrots? Filled with a delicious cream cheese mixture, these adorable carrots have flat-leaf parsley tops, but you can use fresh dill or cilantro.

Charcuterie boards dressed in colorful fruit are a refreshing addition to a spring dessert table. This Pot-of-Gold fruit charcuterie board is a fun and festive addition to a St Patrick’s Day celebration.

Summer

What could be better for a summer garden party than daisies? These delightful daisy sandwiches were layered with thinly sliced black forest ham, provolone cheese and topped with cream cheese and a yellow cherry tomato.

Brie cheese and freshly baked artisan bread are the perfect beginnings for summer charcuterie boards. Shown here with the Sundance Cheese Accessories 4-PC Set.

Tip: Everything on your charcuterie boards should be cut and sliced into easy-to-nosh-on pieces. The only exception is the cheese. While you can certainly cut the cheese ahead of time, having a cheese knife set nearby allows you and your guests to help yourself to a favorite cheese.

Fall

Gobble, gobble! A cute crudité board for Thanksgiving comes together on the Eclipse round party board.

What could be better than an eclipse on Halloween? Since this phenomenon hasn’t happened since 1902, we decided to celebrate last Halloween with a spooky soirée featuring the Eclipse. The highlight was a pumpkin-shaped cheese ball, accompanied by crackers and bread, making it a delightful sensation! As shown here, we used the 4-piece cheese spreader set from the Jason collection.

Winter

Oh, Christmas tree! These little cream cheese Christmas triangles are packed with delectables like dried cranberries, crushed nuts, and salty pretzel stems. The Eclipse marble board, with its rich green and white marble, is an essential Christmas party board.

We hope you’ve enjoyed this journey through the seasons and that it has inspired you. If you spend any time on social media, you may have noticed the many types of food boards people create, including cheese and charcuterie boards, dessert boards, brunch and breakfast boards, as well as simple hummus and appetizer boards.

How to care for your marble charcuterie board

Investing in a reliable round marble board, like the Eclipse, is a smart choice. It will become a beautiful addition to your home entertainment collection. Here are steps to take to care for your marble cutting board or charcuterie board to ensure they last for many years:

Clean your board right after use with warm water and a mild soap. Abrasive cleansers will damage the marble surface.

Make sure to dry it thoroughly. If water is left to sit on the surface, it can damage or stain it.

Oil your marble charcuterie boards. A food-safe mineral oil or beeswax will protect the surface of the board from scratches and stains.

When you’re done with your board, store it in a cool dry place, away from direct sunlight. Being left in direct sunlight for an extended time will cause fading and discoloration.

Marble can be fragile, so avoid hitting your board with sharp or heavy objects. Handle your marble boards with care!
