“Family dinners tend a be a rare occurrence in this day and age, especially with the recent epidemic. You’re probably reading this because you’re lucky enough to have one coming up. But hosting a family dinner doesn’t have to be a stressful affair”
This is a practical guide to share some of the family dinner ideas from my experience that might help you make the most of your hosting opportunity and create a memorable evening for you and your family.
Tip #1: Decide on the Menu
Everyone knows that a dinner party should have good food! But, how do you know what to make?
You can always go with the tried and trusted family favorites. But, if you’re looking to impress, you can try something new. If you’re worried, try incorporating one new dish to create a wow factor among the usual cuisine. Don’t forget to fit everyone’s needs though. If anyone has any special dietary requirements make sure to cater to them. An unhappy guest could sour the evening.
Now that you’ve finished worrying about everyone else, make sure you enjoy the evening as well. Try to cook dishes that can be ready ahead of time, like this Thanksgiving banquet. You shouldn’t miss out on all the fun!
And always remember - never miss dessert! A great dessert is the star on top of the Christmas tree, it helps close the evening on a good note.
Tip #2: Set the mood
Get some music playing! Nobody likes an awkward silence, break it for them to kickstart the socializing. Here’s a sweet playlist that Spotify put together. Next, you need to think about the dinner table itself. Give it some life and character with a few candles and some flowers or greenery depending on your theme.
Feel free to try a lightly scented candle such as this one. But, a normal tea light works as well. And just in case anyone needs some liquid courage, be sure to plenty of drinks. Serve them with a premium barware set such as our Celia toolset or Moscow Mule Mug to add to the ambiance.
Lastly, make sure to tie everything together with a nice tablecloth. Think about the texture, pattern, and color that will best suit the occasion.
Tip #3: Use a high-quality serving set
This is the last piece of the puzzle. Having a premium serving set and barware set serves as a talking point for your guests and adds richness and depth to the meal. According to the Flavour Journal, your flatware can affect the taste and enjoyment of your meal. All the more reason to invest in quality dinnerware and flatware.
Now, there are different options for silverware sets such as Wayfair or Gourmet Settings. But, here at Inox, we focus on quality over quantity to provide unique, ethically sourced dinnerware, directly from our hands to yours. By incorporating stainless steel flatware such as our Sundance Collection you’re giving your family a one-of-a-kind experience
