Indulge in Apple Desserts with Our Date Night Apple Crisp
Served in individual ramekins and topped with your favorite vanilla ice cream, this dessert is easy, versatile, and delicious!
You’ll need:
Key Ingredients
- 4 cups of apples (5 - 6 medium-sized apples)
- 1/4 cup of orange juice
- 3/4 cup of all-purpose flour
- 3/4 cup light brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons of granulated sugar
- 1 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp nutmeg
- 1/2 cup of cold butter cut into small cubes
An optional addition to the topping: 3/4 cup of old-fashioned oats
Directions:
Preheat your oven to 375 F degrees.
Butter or spray your ramekins or baking dish with non-stick cooking spray for easy cleanup.
Peel your apples and chop them. Add them to a mixing bowl and sprinkle them with the orange juice. Next, add granulated sugar and ¾ tsp of cinnamon. Stir the mixture well and portion it into ramekins or a baking dish.
In a separate bowl add flour, 1 tsp of cinnamon, brown sugar, (oats), and cubed cold butter. Using a pastry cutter, cut the butter into the flour mixture until the mixture resembles pea-sized crumbs. If you don’t have a pastry cutter, you can use forks or your hands to mix in the butter.
Add the topping over your apples and pat it down for an even topping. Bake until the apples are soft and the topping is golden brown. This took about 20 minutes using the ramekins. Bake for about 40 minutes if using a baking dish.
Serve it warm as is or top it with some vanilla ice cream. Enjoy!

When it comes to apple desserts, nothing beats the comforting, sweet aroma of a freshly baked apple crisp. This Date Night Apple Crisp is not just a treat but an experience designed to be shared. If you're looking to impress your partner or simply want to enjoy a cozy night in with a delightful dessert, this recipe has got you covered.
The combination of tender, spiced apples topped with a buttery, crumbly topping makes this apple crisp a true classic. But, what sets it apart are the subtle twists and personal touches that you can add to make it your own. Whether it's a pinch of your favorite spice or a specific blend of apples, these small changes can elevate the dish.
Start by selecting your apples. Granny Smith apples are a popular choice for their tartness which balances perfectly with the sweet crisp topping. However, you can mix in Honeycrisp or Fuji apples for a more complex flavor profile. Peel and slice the apples thinly so they cook evenly, providing a tender, melt-in-your-mouth texture.
Next, prepare the topping. In a bowl, combine rolled oats, flour, brown sugar, and a hint of cinnamon to give it that classic warmth. Cut in cold, cubed butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. This step is crucial as it ensures the topping bakes up crispy and golden.
Assemble your apple crisp by layering the sliced apples in a baking dish and sprinkling the oat mixture evenly on top. Don't forget to add a squeeze of lemon juice over the apples to enhance the flavors and a bit of cornstarch to thicken the juices as they bake.
Bake your apple crisp in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for about 45 minutes, or until the apples are tender and the topping is golden brown. The aroma that fills your kitchen will surely captivate anyone around.
Once out of the oven, let the apple crisp cool slightly before serving. This allows the juices to set, making it easier to scoop out neat servings. For an added touch of indulgence, serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream.
Not only is this Date Night Apple Crisp a perfect dessert for any occasion, but it also brings a sense of nostalgia and comfort. The simple ingredients come together to create something truly special, making any night memorable.
Ultimately, apple desserts like this one are about more than just satisfying a sweet tooth—they’re about sharing moments and creating memories. So next time you’re planning a date night in, remember that a homemade apple crisp can be the perfect way to end your evening on a sweet note.
