About our Stainless Steel
Why stainless steel flatware?
At INOX Artisans we create stainless steel flatware, serving pieces, serving trays, and platters. To understand the benefits of using stainless steel to craft our artisan collection, let’s look at the properties of this unique metal.
Corrosion resistance. One of the best characteristics of stainless steel is its corrosion resistance. When it first came on the scene in 1913, it was called the world’s first “rust-less steel’. This breakthrough came from adding chromium as a component and the formula has evolved a great deal since then with many different grades available.
When purchasing stainless steel flatware, the grades are 18/0, 18/8, or 18/10. The most commonly used grade is 18/8, with the numbers indicating its composition of 18% chromium and 8% nickel.
We make our silverware from 18/8 stainless steel, which is the best ratio for our artisans to work with. It is also the most widely used grade because it is highly resistant to rusting and corrosion. However, if you want to prevent rust on your artisanal flatware, we recommend drying it thoroughly after washing.
Fire and heat resistance: The formidable metal can withstand high temperatures which makes it a safe choice for cutlery and cookware.
Hygiene: Have you ever noticed professional kitchens are made almost exclusively of stainless steel? Its smooth, shiny surface makes it hard for dirt and grime to cling to and when it does, it is easy to clean and sanitize. That is why it is used widely in hospitals, laboratories, and factories.
Strength and impact resistance: The durable metal doesn’t become brittle in extreme temperatures. It can withstand everyday wear and tear, making our stainless steel flatware the perfect choice for daily use.
Aesthetic appearance: Stainless steel is attractive and bright. Skilled craftsmen polish the utensils of each unique silverware set to give it a clean shine and luxurious sparkle. The reflective surface accentuates the beauty of the other items on your table.
Sustainable and eco-friendly: It is a highly sustainable metal, typically created from about 70% scrap metal, which would otherwise go to waste. Additionally, it is 100% recyclable and reusable.
Stainless steel recycling doesn't produce toxic waste, with no other elements that need re-mining in the process. This makes it an excellent material for creating new products while reducing waste and preserving the environment.
Lasting value: A long lifespan makes the cost of its whole life cycle quite reasonable. With increasing competition from suppliers, pricing has become more competitive than ever. The maintenance cost is extremely low, making it a cost-effective and practical choice of material. In other words, choosing stainless steel flatware will give you great returns on your investment.
