Throw a garden party for Mom on Mother’s Day and serve these lovely daisy sandwiches. All you need is a medium-sized flower cookie cutter and you can fill these sandwiches with all of her favorites.
Prep Time: 30 minutes Servings (per loaf): 9-10 Calories: approx. 300 kcal
Ingredients:
- Provolone cheese (deli sliced)
- Black forest ham (thinly sliced)
- Yellow cherry tomatoes
- Cream cheese (room temperature)
- A loaf of your favorite sliced bread
- Butter
- Celery (for stems) *
Instructions:
Take out the cream cheese. (It will spread easily when brought to room temperature.)
Cut yellow cherry tomatoes into halves and set aside.
Toast your bread slices and use the flower-shaped cookie cutter to shape the bread slices.
Butter the toasted flowers and set aside.
Shape the Provolone and ham slices into flowers and layer them onto the buttered flowers.
Top your sandwich with another flower toast.
Spread the top of each flower with cream cheese. Use a spreader to shape cream cheese into petals.
Set a yellow cherry tomato half into the center of each daisy sandwich.
You can leave your flower sandwiches as is, or for a decorative touch add stems. We used thinly sliced celery sticks. * You could use wooden skewer sticks covered with hollow spring onion greens for the stem, with basil for the leaves.
Make these daisy tea sandwiches ahead for easy entertaining. They are a great idea for a kid’s party, as well. Just swap out the ingredients with what your family prefers, including avocado, cucumber, chicken, and more.
Keep the extra pieces of toast to make homemade croutons, so nothing goes to waste!
